I greatly hope this post helps someone else!

This Papaya Breakfast Boat recipe is inspired by test results from Viome. I have struggled with digestive problems for the past 3 years. I’ve been taking 2 Nexium a day for 3-years, and if I miss one during the day, I am in pain from such terrible heartburn, indigestion, and acid reflux. I’ve seen a Gastroenterologist, who moved me to a prescription, but that only continued to mask, not heal the issue. So, I finally decided to take a “Gut Intelligence Test” through Viome to pinpoint the issue, and then begin using food as medicine to heal. I will say, this decision was heavily influenced by reading the book Fiber Fueled, which helped me understand the importance of having a healthy gut and an idea of a starting place.

There are several options for Gut Intelligence Test on the market today, but after my research and reading many reviews (which I don’t like to do), I decided to move forward with Viome to help me understand my microbiome. Fun fact: 90% of all diseases are linked to your microbiome.

What is Viome?
A world-class team of founders, scientists, translational scientists, nutritionists, researchers, doctors, and advisors focused on a single mission: to help people live a healthy life.

Helpful definition:

The microbiome is the community of microorganisms (such as fungi, bacteria, and viruses) that exist in a particular environment. In humans, the term is often used to describe the microorganisms that live in your gastrointestinal tract.
Viome tests your microbiome gives you a score and then tells you exactly how to improve that score.

My results out of 100.
Gut Health: 44 (Not optimal)
Cellular & Energy Efficiency: 21 (Not optimal)
Immune System: 48 (Average)
Biological Age: 31

They then analyze what makes up my microbiome, a custom list of superfoods that will help me heal, and a list of foods to avoid. I’ll keep this to a brief summary, but if you’re interested in learning more, reach out, I’d be happy to share.

They gave me a list of the probiotics, bacteria, and viruses found in my microbiome. They then provided 4 customized lists of foods.
Superfoods
Enjoy
Minimize
Avoid

Yes, many of the foods that eat regularly are included on the AVOID list, and many foods like anchovies and arugula are now SUPERFOODS, which…. I guess I need to learn to love.
Eating the wrong foods for your body can result in reactions we interpret as “symptoms” such as brain fog, low energy, trouble sleeping, anxiety, decreased sex drive, stomach pain, etc.

As an option after testing, you can subscribe to Supplements and Probiotics that are formulated uniquely for you, and what your body needs to heal.

Here are 2 examples: first of a SUPERFOOD and the explanation behind one, the Papaya, and then my AVOID list, with the explanation behind Dragonfruit, which I often put in my smoothies.

Since receiving the results, I've eliminated all AVOID foods from my diet, and have a goal of eating at least 3 Superfoods throughout the day. It's only been 2 weeks, and I can feel a huge change in my energy levels.
I had no idea that eating Brussel sprouts, bell peppers, egg yolks, tomatoes, etc., almost daily were playing a part in the many "symptoms" that I had just decided to live with.

So far, I highly recommend the test and understanding how you can use food and supplements as medicine to heal whatever ailment you may be dealing with. And in the great chance that Papaya may be a Superfood for you too, try this recipe and let me know what you think!
